So, let’s start this again.
I attempted to set this off back in June of 2016, but at the time, it was for all the wrong reasons. 6 months later, I’m back and ready to give this 100%.
During the past 6 months, I’ve really been working hard on bettering myself and achieving a more positive mind-set towards health, fitness, food and training. I’ve been upskilling by reading numerous articles and books which have opened my knowledge levels immensely and I’ve also been studying nutrition courses on the side so that I can back up all information I’m passing across.
In today’s society, we get too caught up on what we are told and view as ‘perfect’. Myself included. Perfect bodies, perfect lives… who defines the word perfect? The perfect body is depicted to us through Social Media as someone with clearly defined and noticeable abs, rock hard glutes, and a pretty face. And it’s hard to escape this perception, as our social media feeds are full of these ‘perfect’ girls. But bringing it back to reality here, it’s all b***s**t. While yes, some of these girls have bodies that we think we want, remember, they are only showing you the best bits. I know you’ve heard this time and time again, but you cannot trust everything you’ve seen online.
Take it from me. I spent a few months of 2016 trying to achieve what I thought was the ‘perfect’ body to me. And while on the outside, I seemed happy, smiling in the mirror showing visible abs, what these pictures weren’t showing, was the minimal food I was eating daily, the negative mentality I had developed, the feelings of exhaustion and the tiredness I felt all the time, and the general feeling of unhappiness and negative thoughts consuming my days. My self-esteem was at an all-time low, I wouldn’t post a picture unless it looked ‘perfect’. I was over-training and under-eating. Lost contact with my nearest and dearest. Completely disconnected myself from everyone.
Fast forward a few months, completely different girl staring back at me in the mirror. I’ve worked hard at achieving a more positive attitude and mentality to training and nutrition, aiming to achieve my goals healthily and really focused on being happy being me.
So why did I start with all that?
I want to inspire and motivate you to join me on my health and fitness journey to achieve a balanced lifestyle in 2017. No drastic measures, no insane sacrifices. I want to show you that you can do healthy living on a budget. You can make healthier choices without needing to drastically change your lifestyle. Being healthy does not mean dieting like crazy, constantly being miserable, and working out like a lunatic to achieve the ‘prefect’ body. Being healthy means looking after yourself, both inside and out. Eating healthier, exercising regularly and being more aware of your mental attitude towards your goals, and being more aware of how you can achieve this.
I promise that everything I post from here will be all honest. The good, the bad and the ugly. The ups and the downs, cause let’s face it, we are only human. There will be bad days. Days when you want to pig out, days you don’t feel like going for a walk or to the gym, days where you’re mood is just rock bottom for no reason. But there are also good days, and some days might even turn out to be the best in your life.
I am just an average 24 year old Dublin based girl. I work an office based role, Monday – Friday, normal and challenging working hours. No fancy gadgets, I get by on a strict monthly budget, but I make it work. I love to train and workout. I lift weights. I do my cardio. I eat healthy meals 90% of the time. I enjoy heading out at the weekends from time to time with my friends. I enjoy ice- cream and sweets and most of all pizza. I have found the balance and enjoy my life. I read books, and listen to podcasts when I can. I am just an ordinary girl, a girl with a vision.
So what I promise to offer? I’ll try write weekly blogs, post the odd inspirational quote. I’ll post recipe’s and food inspo. I’ll post workouts, videos and ideas. I’ll post my journey, the ups and downs. And if there is anything in particular that you want, then just let me know.
Let this be a journey that we all take together. Motivate and Inspire each other. Build each other up. Men and woman. After all, we are all on the same journey. A journey to become the healthiest and happiest versions of ourselves.
Let’s make 2017 the year we achieve this.
