Music on, World off

Music in today’s society is well everyone’s number one companion. Whether it be listening to music on a walk, in the gym, in the car, or just dancing around your kitchen on a Friday night blaring ‘Walking on Sunshine’, music is life.Working out to music is more than just for entertainment, it is your own personal inspiration pushing you to go further, run faster and lift more with every beat. I’ve personally had to turn back home many a time to retrieve my headphones, knowing that without my music I would struggle to stay motivated. The kind of music you listen to utterly dictates the level of intensity you work out at, so it’s crucial to get it right.

But when it comes to motivational workout music, everyone likes something different. I know people who love to run to instrumental music, otherwise who come across as seemingly innocent but then exercise to hard-core rap and people whose musical tastes in “real” life don’t match up with the songs that inspire them to work out (Adele and Justin Bieber were the playlist of the month last month).

You may not always feel like working out. Maybe you get tired after a long day at work, or your friends want to make plans. Don’t worries, life happens. When you set your mind to hitting a goal, you will often find adversity along the way. Sometimes to accomplish results you’ve never had before, you have to create habits you’ve never had before. That might mean working out even when you don’t feel like it.

I am a firm believer that all you need to focus on your workout is a quick internal pep talk and some great fitness music. Headphones in, world out!! When you block out the rest of the world and just focus on your goals at hand with especially motivational music, you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish! Always remember that you are powerful beyond measure and are capable of pretty much anything you’re willing to work for!

Personally, I like a huge mix. For me, almost anything that’s catchy and has a good beat will work. But sometimes, you need something better than that. Sometimes you need the motivation to get off the couch, or go the extra mile, or push through that heavier lift, or muscle through your first marathon. When you really need a boost, what you need is an inspirational work out song.

So I have decided to share my Top Spotify playlists (no order of preference), and what you will notice, is that there is absolutely no pattern to them. This list features everything from modern day pop songs to oldies to country to rap, so you’re sure to find something that speaks to you.
